B1 Systems & openDesk: Orchestrated Open-Source Collaboration

hub27, Booth 317 | Tuesday, 15.10.2024 | 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.

In the openDesk project, B1 Systems takes on the role of general contractor, coordinating the collaboration of multiple open-source vendors to jointly develop innovative solutions and implement the “Open Source first” principle. This role aligns perfectly with our expertise, as we have specialized in managed service, support & training around Linux and Open Source for over 20 years.

In this talk, we will provide insights into our collaborative approach and demonstrate how cross-vendor solutions are developed to benefit all participants. A current example is SCIM, a vendor-neutral system for cross-domain identity management that standardizes the provision of user and group data structures across all involved components.

Finally, we will explore future developments, including the integration of privacy-compliant, locally operated artificial intelligence, which will further enhance openDesk.

Building a Knowledge Base with XWiki: A Collaborative Solution for Teams

hub27, Booth 327 | Thursday, 17.10.2024 | 13:00 bis 13:30

When working in teams on a project, people tend not to use collaborative solutions for their work. Documents get scattered across multiple folders or in emails, making it harder to distinguish an old version of a document from a new one, and we miss the possibility of linking documents to each other. XWiki provides the solution to this problem. This session aims to show how XWiki can help any team build a knowledge base adapted to their needs. We will run through some of the most popular features proposed by XWiki to adapt the platform to organisational needs.

How to achieve full technical sovereignty for your digital workspace

hub27, Booth 329 | Thursday, 17.10.2024 | 17:00 bis 17:30

The Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) is a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action and has been led by the OSBA since April 2021 with the aim of developing certifiable standards for cloud computing in a community-driven approach and providing a software stack with open-source components that meets these standards. The standardization of interfaces and critical aspects of cloud environments ensures that workloads can be migrated without significant effort and operated on multiple environments, which has already been proven several times, including in the context of public administration. In terms of digital sovereignty, openDesk pursues the same goals in the area of office and productivity software. We show that the provision of openDesk in an SCS-compliant environment is a fully sovereign realization of a digital workplace from a technical perspective. By using repositories on the openCode platform, SCS underpins its goal of providing transparent, open, and freely available technology.
