The journey to openDesk

From idea to innovation: openDesk’s story

  • openDesk grew out of the 'Sovereign Workplace' initiative launched by the German Federal Ministry of the Interior.
  • The Centre for Digital Sovereignty (ZenDiS GmbH), a publicly-funded limited liability company of the German Federal Government, took over openDesk’s development in January 2024.
  • Today, it works closely with German public authorities, established open source companies, and European partners.
